0 Free concert – Blewbury 9th September
We’re delighted to announce a Free Concert on Sunday 9 September 2012 from 2pm – 4pm, at Tickers Folly Bandstand, Boham’s Lane, Blewbury.
Bring a rug or deck chair, and enjoy listening to your local brass band. Bring your children as well, to play on the playground swings, slide and climbing frames…and to make raucous noises on a full range of brass instruments! We’re keen to encourage local young people to take up brass and will soon be starting a learner band for beginners.
See the events diary for more information.
0 New Sponsor – Calnan Brothers
The band again have received support from the local business community. Calnan Brothers, Didcot’s rather forward thinking local butchers has made a generous donation to the bands funds to enable us to continue to develop our new Leaner band and proceed with this year’s MasterClass.
Visit Calnan Brothers at their Didcot shop at 5 Hagbourne Road, Didcot, Oxford OX11 8DP or visit their impressive new website www.calnanbrothers.co.uk for how to videos, recipes and online ordering for nation wide temperature controlled delivery. The meat is great (they are a proper butcher who will prepare meat to order) but at least one band member also visits their shop for the cheeses on their Deli counter.
0 Summer Break – No Band Practice on 25th July.
We’re taking a break next week (Wed. July 25th. 2012), but there will be a main band practice as usual on 1st Aug.
Time for some private practice.
0 New sponsor – £150 for young player tuition
The band have just received a kind donation of £150 from a local business who wish to remain anonymous. The sponsorship will be used to fund tuition for our learners to enable us to provide some one on one lessons alongside the main band training.
Donations of this kind make a huge difference to the modest income of the band and enable us to both expand our repertoire and the number of performance at which we can play out.
