Learner Band
Playing a brass instrument is enormous fun, especially when playing with other people.
Our Learner Band is a great opportunity for people who already play a brass instrument to play with other learners, whatever your age. Our Learner Band meets at the band hut each Wednesday early evening from 6.30 – 7.15.
The Learner Band plays a variety of enjoyable music that is carefully matched to stretch and develop each player. You will recognise much of the music the Learner Band plays, which includes pop hits, film and TV themes, popular classical melodies, traditional tunes, hymns and marches.
If you have never played a brass instrument before, we suggest that you have a number of private lessons with Ian Barlow to get you going. Then when you know the basic valve fingering (or slide positions, for a trombone) we’ll suggest you join our Beginner Band (click here for more details) which is ideal for new players up to about Grade 2 standard.
There is no charge for attending our Learner Band (or Beginner Band), beyond normal band subscriptions of £40 per annum plus £40 if you use an band instrument, or half these amounts (ie £20 subs plus £20 instrument rental) if you are “unwaged” (in full time education, unemployed, retired).
