0 Blewbury’s Birthday Bash!
A talented ensemble from Blewbury Brass Band joined guests in East Hagbourne to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of its finest residents. The band gave its first outing of the new summer fete programme which included Oklahoma, Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Pirates of the Caribbean. We were joined by Megan who played the beautiful horn solo ‘Demelza’, and were also treated to ‘The Acrobat’ by Grace on trombone. The band had a lovely afternoon and would like to thank our hosts for looking after us so well and providing a lovely lunch.

A group from the main band played a selection of carols at the Officers’ Mess at RAF Benson as pre-dinner entertainment. Diners gathered outside a beautifully decorated Mess and listened to the band playing Christmas favourites including ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, ‘Once in Royal’ and ‘Away in a Manger’. The band enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display which formed part of the evening’s entertainment.
