A talented ensemble from Blewbury Brass Band joined guests in East Hagbourne to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of its finest residents. The band gave its first outing of the new summer fete programme which included Oklahoma, Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Pirates of the Caribbean. We were joined by Megan who played the beautiful horn solo ‘Demelza’, and were also treated to ‘The Acrobat’ by Grace on trombone. The band had a lovely afternoon and would like to thank our hosts for looking after us so well and providing a lovely lunch.
A group from the main band played a selection of carols at the Officers’ Mess at RAF Benson as pre-dinner entertainment. Diners gathered outside a beautifully decorated Mess and listened to the band playing Christmas favourites including ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, ‘Once in Royal’ and ‘Away in a Manger’. The band enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display which formed part of the evening’s entertainment.
The Blewbury Learner Band have been invited to play in Upton at the George and Dragon pub Music Event on Sunday 30 August.
The plan is to play from 4pm to 5pm in the beer garden prior to the start of live pop/rock bands at 5pm.
Do come along – it should be a fun event!
A small select ensemble of bbb members will play at the Waitrose Community Engagement evening from 7 o/c on Thursday 25 September 2014, at the Wallingford Town Hall.
In part this is the band’s “thank you” to Waitrose and their Community Fund for making a £1500 donation to enable us to buy a much-needed Imperial tuba.
A wide range of brass ensemble music will be played – should be a fun evening!
An intrepid group of players from Blewbury Brass Band played carols to accompany the annual Christmas Lunch at the Goring & Streatley Golf Club on Sunday 15 December.
Adorned in bobble hats and tinsel, we added to members’ seasonal cheer (to accompany their seasonal gastronomic and liquid cheer)!
