0 Learner Band Entertains Shoppers

  • Apr 16th
  • by judithatkins
  • · Concert · Events · Have a blow · Learner Band · News

The Learner Band entertained shoppers outside the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot today.  We were joined by our friends from Dawkes Music who provided us with a selection of brass instruments for passers-by to ‘have a blow’ on. Ian Barlow, from Brass in Class, encouraged local youngsters and hopefully will have attracted some new members to the band.

The band were on top form and could be heard throughout the town centre!  The weather was not great but we carried on regardless with a varied programme which eventually brought the sun out.  We heard beautiful solos from Samuel and Jamie on cornet and a quartet of Emily, Rachel, Katie and Natalie who played Amazing Grace with style and feeling.

Thank you to all the players for their hard work and enthusiasm and to their parents for supporting.

0 Please sponsor Alice Dawson to play 10 different brass instruments

  • Mar 22nd
  • by martinholliss
  • · Events · Have a blow · Learner Band · News · Sponsorship

Alice Dawson, a member of Blewbury Brass Band, is raising money to buy new music books and music related items for the newly-formed Windband at Manor School in Didcot. The more money she raises the more music related items can be bought for the children to enjoy music at Manor School.

Would you please sponsor her to play a different brass instrument in each of the 10 brass lessons she will be doing after Easter?  We will add photographs to the website to show her playing each instrument.

Please hand payments to the Manor School office in clearly marked envelopes, or give them to Dion Dawson at band practice, or make a payment online by BACS to bank account Sort code 30-00-02 / Account number 00972113.

Thank you from Alice, and other budding musicians at Manor School.
