Blewbury Brass Band
Blewbury Brass Band’s younger members had a successful and enjoyable day at the ODBBA Brass Festival. The band was represented in seven different sections including solos, duets, quartets and the ensemble. A big thank you to David, George, William, Alice, Rose, Grace and Rachel for taking part in the event.
Alice received the award for being the best girl in the under 15 category; our under 19 quartet won second place playing ‘Drunken Sailor’; Grace and Rachel were placed third for their duet ‘When I’m 64’; and Alice finished third in the slow melody with her own arrangement of ‘On my own’. We also received four fourth places: David in the under 11 slow melody, Grace in the 12-14 slow melody and junior championship, and our under 14 hymn quartet.
Well done to our Blewbury Youth Brass Players: Katie who won first place in the senior duet; Izzy and Ciaran who were second in the under 19 duet; and Megan who came second in the 15-18 slow melody.
Thank you to the ODBBA for organising such a successful festival. It was a great experience for our young players to meet up with players from other local bands and hear some high-quality playing.
We look forward to taking more players (including our adults) next year!
