0 BBB entertains runners at Oxford half-marathon
An early start for Blewbury Brass Band as we urged on the runners with some rousing tunes. Our selection included ‘500 miles’, ‘Go the Distance’ and ‘Gonna Fly Now’ from Rocky. It was a lovely, sunny morning for the race and we had a prime location on Woodstock Road with runners travelling in both directions.
The band was particularly keen to support Honey Monster (aka principal cornet, Lewis Anderson), Fran Barlow, Christine Mellers (mother of Adam and Katie) and Alice Knight’s dad Phil. Thanks to the band’s encouragement, they all finished with excellent times!
Thank you to Christine and Amanda for providing snacks and the event organisers for looking after us so well.
0 BBB to play at Oxford Half-Marathon
Blewbury Brass Band will be motivating runners on Sunday 9th October with a selection of inspirational tunes to help them on their way around the city. We look forward to supporting the runners and providing entertainment for the crowds.
0 Blewbury Youth Brass Opening Rehearsal
The first meeting of Blewbury Youth Brass took place yesterday at Blewbury School. The thirty-five players made a great sound rehearsing 500 Miles, The show must go on, Brass Band Boogie and Hootenanny.
It was great to meet new players from around the county, who were heading over to Blewbury for the first time, whilst welcoming our friends from Cholsey Silver Band and our own Blewbury players. We are privileged to have such an enthusiastic and talented group of young players coming on the tour and are looking forward to our next rehearsal in November.
There is still one place remaining on the tour. Please encourage any interested brass player to get in touch with Ian Barlow ian@brassinclass.com for details.
0 BBB at North Moreton
North Moreton Church played host to the band and the choir of East Hagbourne for a joint concert. The band played some of its favourite pieces from the summer fete programme and even included a new piece; Gonna Fly Now.
The band enjoyed listening to the choir, led by Louise Rapple-Moore, and we hope we can do another joint venture in the future.
Thank you to the church for some lovely refreshments. We hope you all had a pleasant evening.
