bbb to become a Charity
After our most active year ever, the members of the Blewbury Brass Band recently voted at the band’s AGM that the band should apply to become a Charity. The band’s charitable “Objects” have been defined as follows…
“For the public benefit to promote and encourage the playing of brass and percussion instruments and the appreciation of Brass Band music amongst members of the local community in Blewbury and its surrounding area, young or old and of either gender, in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, including by:
- Providing affordable education, playing opportunities and musical direction for the benefit of anyone interested in playing a brass or percussion instrument;
- Providing musical entertainment for the local community by the playing of brass band music as and when suitable opportunities arise;
- Providing, for a reasonable rental fee, a full range of brass and percussion instruments to be played with the band, for the benefit of members without their own instruments.”
Fingers crossed that the Charity Commission agree that these have sufficient public benefit to qualify us to become a Charity.
