Tony Loy Trust makes £1000 donation to the Blewbury Brass Band
We are delighted to announce that The Tony Loy Trust is very generously making a £1000 donation to the band, to support our aim of starting a brass group at both the Blewbury and Hagbourne Primary Schools.
The aim of the Tony Loy Trust (see http://www.facebook.com/TheTonyLoyTrust) is to advance the education and support the development of (and provide opportunities for) children and young people under the age of 25 in Blewbury and the neighbouring area in the arts and sport. This includes providing grants, allowances or scholarships; supporting training; and assisting travel, events or projects.
The Tony Loy Trust was formed following the sad death of Tony Loy in 2012. Tony was a “larger than life” character who did a huge amount in Blewbury and the surrounding area, and was a stalwart of the Blewbury Players. One of his most memorable activities was his role, for many years, as Chief Elf and helper to Santa Claus when he visits the Blewbury Playclose each Christmas Eve. The band always enjoyed the fun atmosphere that he helped to create.
HUGE thanks to Sheila Loy and all the other trustees for their unanimous and spontaneous generosity!
